Internal Medicine Resident, PGY-2
Unity Hospital-Rochester Regional Health

Rochester, New York, United States
My name is Ahmed Ahmed, MD, and I’m a second-year Internal Medicine resident at Unity Hospital-RRH, with plans to pursue a cardiology fellowship focused on critical care and interventional cardiology.
I was born in Sudan, raised in Saudi Arabia, and earned my medical degree at Tongji Medical College in Wuhan, China—yes, that Wuhan—where I studied medicine, learned Chinese, and unknowingly witnessed the early days of a global pandemic. That experience taught me adaptability, resilience, and the importance of global collaboration in medicine.
I’m especially passionate about cardiac critical care and advanced imaging. I’m currently completing my Critical Care POCUS certification and plan to sit for the ASCeXAM this year, aiming to be one of the first residents in my program to pass the echo boards during residency.
This year, I had an abstract accepted to ACC, but I chose to attend the Houston Shock Symposium instead to pursue my growing interest in CCC. I’m honored to be participating in the Houston Shock Jeopardy and excited to engage with colleagues who share a passion for managing cardiogenic shock and pushing the field forward.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, and getting lost in nature whenever I can.
