Dr. Rahat Hussain, a graduate of Dow Medical College in Pakistan, pursued research in neurocritical care and cardiac arrest at Wayne State University and Baylor College of Medicine. He completed Internal Medicine training at UT-RAHC and a Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship at Baylor, including a Lung Transplant Fellowship.
Since 2012, he has been practicing at UTHealth Houston and is a Pulmonary Critical Care and Lung Transplant Physician at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He serves as the Co-Medical Director of the Sarcoidosis Clinic and Medical Director of the Heart and Lung Transplant Intermediate Unit, overseeing patient care, quality, and pulmonary rehabilitation. His expertise includes ECMO, LVADs, lung and heart transplant management, and conditions like Sarcoidosis and COPD. Dr. Hussain's research focuses on ECMO outcomes, lung transplantation, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Additionally, he is involved in developing financial education programs for medical students and residents at UTHealth’s McGovern School of Medicine.
