Dr. Sriram Nathan completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree at the Pune Armed Forces Medical College in 1991 and complete his Internship at University Hospital and Clinic in Columbia, Missouri. He completed a three-year fellowship in cardiology thereafter as an Attending Physician from 2000-2010 at Marion General Hospital in Indiana. During that period he was also Clinical Faculty in the teaching program for medical students at Indiana University for more than five years.
Dr. Sriram Nathan joined the faculty at UT Health in 2012 and is presently a Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Director of cardiogenic Shock, Center for Advanced Heart Failure Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, TX. Dr. Nathan is dedicated to the educational mission of UT Health McGovern Medical School. As an advanced heart failure cardiologist, his specific area of expertise is treating the sickest acute and chronic heart failure patients that require temporary or long-term mechanical circulatory support or heart transplantation. His research is primarily focused on mechanical circulatory support devices and heart transplantation.
He is the recipient of several awards including the Excellence in Teaching & Mentoring award for Advanced Heart Failure. He has also been nominated in Houstonia’s Top Doctors from 2019-2021. Dr. Nathan is a devoted Houston Astros fan, loves watching and attending home games, and enjoys spending quality time with his family.
